Hi Im new here and hope this is the right place for this if not im sorry in advance.
....but why i'm posting I am wanting to compete in the upcoming auto cross event on july 17th and am wondering if the helmet my dad used in autoracing would be meet the requirements for the stock D class? It was used in stock cars, its a full faced helmet with a snell certification it reads SA 85 serial # 0069952 . it is an older helmet used in the early 90's so if anyone could help me that would be great!

thank you for your comments

The wording in the Solo rulebook is "the current Snell rating and the two previous." It has been determined by the SCCA National Office that since Snell has decided to allow the manufacturers to continue to build SA2005 and M2005 helmets into the physical year 2010, both the SA/M2005 and the SA/M2010 helmets are "current". Therefore, the "two previous" are then SA/M2000 and SA/M95. I think your dad's helmet is too old.

However, we do have loaner helmets available (for free!). You can use one of those when you come out.
